I can't believe it's been so long since I last wrote. I stopped writing in part because so much was happening with Luna and I was having such a hard time coping, I just couldn't write about it. I still don't feel like going into all the details, but the good news is that we are getting closer to getting answers about Luna's cognitive and physical delays. So far we have ruled out autism which is probably the biggest relief. We are still scheduled for an MRI and a visit with a neurologist and then possibly a geneticist, but for now, our biggest fear has been calmed.
And so much has happened:
- On May 7, D found Luna girl sitting up in her crib. We thought it was a fluke, but from that day she started to pull herself up to sitting.
- On June 16, Luna crawled for the very first time. D was getting her ready for bed because she was being so fussy and we assumed she was tired. After he finished getting her undressed down to her diaper, he looked at me and said, "I think she just crawled." So, we put her down on the floor and lo and behold, she crawled to get lovie. Again, we thought it was fluke, but every day she gets a little better and goes a little further. I watch her in disbelief, as I can't really believe we've arrived at this point.
- From May 16-May 21, we went to Moab, UT, which was so amazing. We stayed in a beautiful condo and relaxed, swam, drank great beer, got addicted to Nija Warrior, and had an overall amazing time. D got some great mountain biking in and we all got tons of great hiking in. Our last day, we hiked 7.2 miles through Devils Garden and despite the terrible heat and difficult trail, Luna was a super star. She even managed a nap in the Sherpani. D and I were dying as we were almost out of water half way through the hike, but the scenery was so worth it! Overall, Luna girl was such a trooper the whole trip. She slept well, did great on the plane and even did so well on the 4 hour drive to and from Salt Lake City.
- Luna now has 8 teeth and I think she might be getting more as she is constantly biting her hands and anything else she can get her in her mouth.
- We went through a terrible picky eating stage for about two weeks, but that seems to be over, thank god! She would just spit everything out, but now she seems to be eating most things we put in front of her. Sometimes she gets really impatient with the high chair, in which case we have to hold her. But I think she's gaining weight, as I've noticed she's got these adorable chubby legs recently.
- We also went through a terrible sleeping period where Luna was sleeping so long in the morning, that it was throwing the whole rest of the day off. I thought she might be moving to one nap, but as it turns out, she's still a two napper: 9 and 1 or 2.
Okay, it's back to Jon and Kate Plus 8 and then bed.
